BaptistCare HopeStreet, Salvation Army, Greater West For Christ and COACH Community Mentoring are partnering to help families in Western Sydney identify and reach their life goals.
We’re looking for people who want to volunteer, receive training and be part of this journey.

COACH Community Mentor training:
For those who are involved in their local church and want to be involved in mentoring (Select COACH Mentor when registering for the training event).
This training session commences at 8:30am and concludes at 3:15pm.
What is Coach ?
COACH is a community-strengthening program that aims to empower individuals and families through one-to-one mentoring, breaking generational cycles of poverty and family breakdown.
COACH partners with not-for-profits and churches to train volunteer mentors and match them with individuals in need. For a minimum of 12 months, COACH participants meet with their mentors each week / fortnight.

Morning Tea, Lunch and Afternoon Tea will be provided.

Post-training details:
This training event on 27 February 2021 is your first step to becoming a volunteer.
Following training, you will:
COACH Community Mentoring Volunteers:
- Complete COACH online training modules (at your own pace)
- Complete and submit your application forms
- Undergo an interview with a Coordinator (between March - May 2021)
- Undergo reference checks, police check and working with children check
- Matching volunteer mentor with participant
- Begin your volunteer role (from April 2021)

Frequently Asked Questions:
What is the amount of time I need to commit to the COACH program?
12-18 months, meeting for 1-2 hours per week/fortnight at a place both people are comfortable with.
Why is there training on 'Trauma Informed Practice'?
Training on Trauma Informed Practice is included to help prepare volunteer mentors to deal with difficult situations if they arise and to gain deeper understanding of the challenges which participants may have experienced. This training will equip volunteer mentors with strategies, and knowledge about who to talk to if the participant needs further help.
Salvos ‘Drive for Life’ supervising driver training has reached capacity.
