Seating and Mobility Seminar
As part of G Mobility's ongoing commitment to clinical education we are proud to present a full day of clinical education in collaboration with Permobil Australia. Presented by Magdalena Love, Clinical Education Specialist for Permobil in Australia and NZ. The day will include two key sessions as follows.
9:15 – 12:15: "Fitting the Wheelchair Like a Prosthetic: How to Do It and Why It Matters"
This session will provide therapists with an overview of the key concepts involved with prescribing a true made-to-measure wheelchair.
- Why a close fit is important?
- Chair fitting for performance and function.
- Understanding the impact of Custom Frame Depth: How and When to Use It?
- How to approach Seat Height from a functional perspective.
- Setting Seat Width for optimal propulsion and fit.
1:00 – 3:00: The Advantages of Power Positioning
This session will provide therapists an overview of common power positioning functions and their typical applications.
- Gain an insight into the range of seating and power functions avaliable on Permobil powered wheelchairs.
- Determining the most appropriate power functions for your clients
- The advantages of standing wheelchairs
About the Presenter
Magdalena Love, OTR, ATP
Magdalena received her Masters of Occupational Therapy from University of Florida. Following a specialty affiliation as a research assistant at the National Institute of Health (NIH), she worked as an OT in the New York School system and at an outpatient paediatric clinic. In 2011, she went on to hold an OT position at The Institute for Rehabilitation and Research (TIRR) in Houston, TX on both the Brain Injury then the Spinal Cord Injury/Specialty Rehab team.
Magdalena was actively involved in seating and mobility clinics during her career at TIRR.
She currently works for Permobil as Clinical Education Specialist, is an Assistive Technology Professional (ATP), and an active member of AOTA and RESNA. In 2016, Magdalena relocated to Sydney to assume the role of Clinical Education Specialist for Permobil in the Australia & New Zealand regions.
Upon completion of this training session, attendees will receive a certificate of attendance.
There will also be a light lunch provided. We look forward to seeing you on the day.
