Event description

Description

Join the Shadow Minister for Climate Change and Energy, Mark Butler, as he launches his new book, Climate Wars, which is a useful, readable and concise account of Australian climate change politics to-date and explores the energy reform options needed to slow down the effects of Climate Change.

"Unlike the UK, Australia has never had climate consensus – and it has been costly"

As the consequences of climate change become perilously close to the point of no return, time-wasting wars over what to do distract us from taking real action.

Mark Butler makes a forceful case for using less and cleaner energy as part of global action to save the planet. Doing so will also make Australia attractive for the massive global market of investors and create new jobs in clean energy.

"An intelligent and insightful account of climate change politics and policy in Australia from an author at the frontline of the climate wars. I recommend it to anyone concerned about the world we leave to future generations." - Greg Combet

This FREE book launch event will feature Mark Butler in conversation with University of Newcastle's Dr Bonnie McBain.
