Event description

Description

Do you find yourself wanting to do something about climate change, but unable to currently sail across the world with Greta Thunberg to speak to the United Nations about it?

How about spending a couple of days with Greta*, Red Cross and council learning about the likely humanitarian impacts of a changing climate, and how you and your community can take action to adapt!

(*a photo of Greta, on a slide)

This training is specifically designed for young people and is held over two days so please come along to both Friday 29 November and Friday 6 December - we will have a fun hands on activity this day to celebrate!

Fri 29th Nov
9:30am – 12pm | Climate Ready Youth Training
12 – 1pm | Tshirt design activity + lunch

Fri 6th Dec
9:30am – 12pm | Climate Ready Youth Training
12- 2pm | Tshirt design + lunch + brainstorming a youth climate change event.

After completing the training, you’ll join our lively group of Climate Ready Champions from across South Australia, all taking action in their local community. You’ll be provided with ongoing support and development opportunities by Red Cross and will spread the ‘Climate Ready’ message within your networks and community, to whatever extent you are able.

The two days (Fri 29 Nov and Fri 6 Nov) will include:

- Interactive activities and discussions

- Guest speakers

- Tips and tricks for talking about climate readiness

- Practical guidance to engage and support others to take action in your community.

If you have any questions or queries, please feel free to contact Dani Austin, Community Adaptation Project Officer at daustin@redcross.org.au or via 0415 695 836.

This project is supported by Resilient South - The Cities of Holdfast Bay, Marion, Mitcham, and Onkaparinga. The training is currently open to those aged 12-25 who work, live, or are involved in these areas.
