Event description

Description

An event for wool, alpaca, mohair and cashmere farmers on Climate Beneficial farming. Together we will share knowledge and create a future where regenerative agriculture is valued by your customers. We will introduce the Carbon Institute supported Climate Beneficial Wool program used in the US and then create a way forward for leading Australian farms.

-----------

A significant number of the wool, alpaca, llama, cashmere and mohair producers in our Fibreshed are looking at ways to manage their lands for longevity and productivity, and to connect with local customers by producing local, natural fibre products. All of these grass-fed, fiber-producing animals have the potential to graze on managed landscapes where Carbon Farming practices are being implemented, thus creating products that are Climate Beneficial™: watch the video below to learn more.

The Climate Beneficial Wool program focuses on the connection of Climate Beneficial farms with local production options to produce unique products with a completely local story. If you are a farm interested in local production and carbon farming this day is for you.

What's in it for Me?

- Learnings from Wurundjeri elder Uncle Dave on indigenous land management options

- Resources for taking the next step on your own farm including local consultants, grants and programs

- Sample carbon farm plans

- Marketing studies on ethical textile consumption

- Fibershed Melbourne will be actively seeking funding after the event to support a program as proposed by the group
