Clement Meadmore began his career in Melbourne as a furniture designer ca.1951, expanding into exhibition design, interiors and lighting.
By the early 1960s, he had moved into sculpture and immigrated to the USA in 1963. This illustrated talk looks at Meadmore's work, his design partnerships with Max Hutchinson (Gallery A), Michael Hirst (H-Line) and the painter Leonard French.
Michael Bogle is a design historian specialising in Australian architecture and design. His recent work includes a chapter on the development of Sydney's postwar espresso bars and cocktail lounges in the 2015 Premier's History Award short-listed Leisure Space. The Transformation of Sydney 1945-1970, UNSW Press (2014) and Design in Flight, an exploration of the Marc Newson designs for the QANTAS A380 airbus interiors (2009).
