Cleaner Air, Better Health: CAR Annual Symposium 2016
The Centre for Air quality and health Research evaluation is a NHMRC funded Centre for Research Excellence and will be hosting its annual symposium at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research Thursday 5th of May.
This years theme is 'Cleaner Air, Better Health' and will showcase Australia's contribution to research on air pollution and its effects on human health.
A call for abstracts is now closed and the abstract presentation list can be found at www.car-cre.org.au.
Confirmed plenary speakers include Professor David Bowman a leading expert in fire ecology and Dr Fay Johnston a leading expert in landscape fires and wood smoke on health. Ms Sian Rudge, Director of Knowledge Exchange, The Sax Institute and Associate Professor Sonia Wutzke, deputy director of The Australian Prevention Partnership Centre (TAPPC).
Professor Bowman will speak on ‘The Anthropocene – humans, fire and our flammable planet’
Dr Johnston will speak on : ‘The health trade-offs of living with fire’
Ms Rudge and Assoc-Prof Wutzke :“Getting your research into policy and practice” with a by-line of “Evidence and experience in knowledge translation with a case study from The Australian Prevention Partnership Centre”
Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided
