Discover the history, literature, and language of Ancient Greece and Rome.

About this event

Classical Studies is the study of the languages, literature, history, society, philosophy, art, and archaeology of Ancient Greece and Rome from the Bronze Age to the Byzantine Empire. We also investigate the reception of Greece and Rome in later literatures and cultures and their legacy and impact in the contemporary world.

The Centre for Classical Studies offers majors in Ancient Greek, Latin, and Ancient History. Undergraduates benefit from a warm and supportive teaching environment, excellent library resources, including the Classics Centre’s own collection of texts and dictionaries, and teaching staff with outstanding international reputations. We pride ourselves on teaching both Ancient Greek and Latin from beginner to advanced levels, developing and nurturing students into accomplished readers and interpreters of the ancient languages. Students receive hands-on training in the material culture of the Greek and Roman worlds in our Classics Museum, which features stunning examples of ancient art and objects that illuminate daily life.

Join us on Open Day to discover the history, literature, and language of Ancient Greece and Rome.
