Event description

Description

Dystopian films, novels and TV shows are everywhere, but this sudden explosion of possible futures isn’t necessarily new. Over three weeks Yarra Libraries travels through dystopias past with screenings of classic films Metropolis, Blade Runner and Alphaville. Meanwhile, our expert panel of Adolfo Aranjuez (Metro magazine), Marlee Jane Ward (Welcome to Orphancorp) and Peter Allen (Victorian College of the Arts) will ask what dystopias say about the societies that birthed them, and what we can learn from them today.

Screening of Metropolis 14:00-17:00 on 19/11 at NFZ Seminar Room 1&2

Panel discussion 18:30-19:30 on 23/11 at NFZ Community Room
Screening of Blade Runner 18:00-20:00 on 30/11 at Fitzroy Meeting Room 1
Screening of Alphaville 14:00-16:00 on 03/12 at Fitzroy Meeting Room 1
