The Centre for Infectious Diseases and Microbiology - Public Health, Westmead Hospital, Western Sydney Local Health District and Sydney Infectious Diseases Institute, University of Sydney invite you to join us in the 2022 Seminar Series, with Professor Deborah Williamson "Applying innovative approaches to the detection and control of emerging pathogens".
Professor Deborah Williamson is a clinician-scientist, Director of the Victorian Infectious Diseases Reference Laboratory, Doherty Institute and Professor of Public Health Microbiology at the University of Melbourne. She is also an NHMRC Investigator Fellow. She received a L’Oreal-UNESCO Women in Science Fellowship in 2017 and was awarded the 2020 Frank Fenner Award for research by the Australian Society for Infectious Diseases. Her translational research group focuses on the development and application of diagnostic technologies, including genomics, to infectious diseases. Her research has directly influenced the way microbiology is applied to clinical practice and public health, including responses to antimicrobial resistance and COVID-19.
