Event description

Description

Throw away your 'normals' for good design. Passive House raises the bar for environmental performance rating tools.

Passive House is a global perspective on environmental performance, and is applicable here in Australia.

The standard was originally developed in Germany (early 1990s) and since then more than 20,000 commercial and residential projects have been certified around the globe. Describing a small number of building performance requirements, the standard is simple but not easy to achieve. With a view on local context, we will explore the standard’s key requirements:

Passive House requires:

  • well balanced energy gains and losses,
  • a high performance façade,
  • mixed mode ventilation and heat recovery,
  • stringent comfort benchmarks, and
  • quality assured construction processes.

This is now gaining momentum in Australia. Find out about it from Australian practitioners, Jeff Robinson and Johanna Trickett from Aurecon who will lead you through this introduction to Passive House.

5:30pm for 6:00pm presentation.

Networking opportunities before and after the presentation with drinks and nibbles.
