CIA Peer Supporters Network - May 2017 meeting
Wed. 10 May 2017, 10:00 am – 12:30 pm AEST
In this workshop participants will offered the opportunity to piece together a social media plan for their peer support group or organisation. An overview of the main social media platforms and tools will be given as well as an in-depth look into the pros and cons of using each. Participants will be guided on how to create safe spaces for their communities to interact online and learn how to build savvy content to maintain members and attract newcomers.
Who is running the session?
Kim Henshaw has lived with type 1 diabetes for over 30 years and is the co-founder and operator of the Oz Diabetes Online Community. Through building an online space for diabetes peer support to be exchanged, a valuable repository of the ‘diabetes lived experiences’ has been created for diabetes health professionals to learn from.
Kim has a background in counselling and communication, health promotion and currently works in consumer engagement at Diabetes Victoria.
Will I need to bring anything?
WiFi will be provided on the day. We just ask that you bring along a laptop or tablet that is fully charged. Unfortunately, there are limited power sockets on the day.
Who is the Peer Supporters Network?
We are a group of consumer peer leaders and staff who are passionate about peer support for better health.
