Description

Learn the fine art of Chinese ink painting here at China Cultural Centre in Sydney taught by professional Chinese ink painting artist Franz Cheung. Traditional Chinese ink painting is also known as ink wash painting and is created using a brush dipped in ink and water, compounds, and painted on rice paper (xuan paper).

  1. Introduction to the course:4 treasures in studio. Basic brush control & calligraphy skills.
  2. Rock depiction: Ink darkness, water & ink interaction, usage of static lines. Four main steps of rock formation.
  3. General tree depiction: Branch & stem, anatomy & structure of a tree. Foliage grouping and varieties. Contrast of ink darkness.
  4. Pine tree: Main feature, tree bark with scales, grouping of pine needles.
  5. Willow tree: Deer horn & crab claw branches, usage of ink & colour wash.
  6. Bamboo: Calligraphy skills applied into painting. Thick & thin strokes.
  7. Zodiac animals: Usage of motional lines and Chinese pigment.
  8. Finish a small piece of work with seals & inscriptions.

Course detail: Saturday, 3 June - 29 July, 2:30pm-4:30pm.

Trial Classes:

ONE trial class only for each person registered.

If you have registered for a trial class, please let us know at the reception before entering the classroom. If you would like to proceed with the course after the trial, you will be required to pay for the total number of classes you wish to attend including the trial class.

Fees: $230* for 8 lessons including $30 material (ink, pigment, brushes and xuan paper). All payment will be made at reception upon enrollment.

All classes need a minimum number of students to go ahead.
If your chosen course does not have sufficient enrollment, it may be postponed to next term or canceled.
Should this happen, we will inform you as soon as possible.
For legal reasons, we reserve the right to vary courses due to unforeseen circumstances.
Fees are non-refundable unless one is proved to be unfit by a doctor’s certificate.
