Event description

Description

More than 40 years on from the initial opening up and reform of the Chinese economy, China is again at the cross-roads. Economic growth has slowed to a three-decade low of just over 6 percent, and the economy continues to transition from being export and production led, to an increasing focus on domestic consumption.

Yet China is driving efficiency, quality and innovation throughout its manufacturing sector to enable the next phase of industrialisation. If the past 40-year period was one of “Opening Up and Reform 1.0”, what will the next phase of China’s economic evolution look like? What are the major initiatives that are going to drive this next phase in modern China’s economic development?

These forums will bring together leading experts to explore China’s new economic narrative and some of the major engines that will power this growth. These include the ambitious Belt and Road initiative, and the rise of super regions and city clusters, such as the Yangtze River Delta, which already accounts for 40 percent of China’s GDP, and the Greater Bay Area.

With more than US$1.3 trillion worth of projects already underway along the Belt and Road, for instance, these major initiatives are already helping to form the backbone of China’s next generation of economic development policies. And while not without risks, they are opening up new commercial opportunities for Australian and international business.

Join Asialink Business, in collaboration with CPA Australia, for this timely discussion on China’s economic reform agenda and the opportunities for businesses in Australia and New Zealand.
