In South Australia a wide range of people are required by law to notify Families SA of situations where child abuse and neglect are suspected. Under the Children's Protection Act 1993 (as amended by the Amendment Bill 2005) these people are referred to as "mandated notifiers" and the obligation is outlined in Section 11 (1) and (2).
In response to the legislative amendments the Mandated notifiers program was updated in early 2006 and renamed Child Safe Environments - Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect. This reflects the vision of the government that the whole community will endeavour to care for and protect children through building stronger, more child-focused communities.
This training will help you to recognise the signs of child abuse, know the appropriate action to take and understand how to support the child and their family. The one day seminar outlines the legislative requirements for paid and voluntary workers in the Anglican Church to report child abuse. As the content of the course relates to legislation that is specific to South Australia, the training must be undertaken within South Australia by an accredited Families SA trainer.
Unfortunately, if you are not attached to an Anglican parish or Anglicare SA, you will not be able to complete the course with us as our training sessions are not open to the general public.
Lunch and refreshments including vegetarian options are supplied.
You may wish to provide your own lunch if you have any special dietary requirements.

Founded in 1847, the Diocese of Adelaide consists of over 90 churches across 65 parishes. It covers an area of nearly 23,000 square kilometres, including the metropolitan area of Adelaide, the Barossa Valley, and Kangaroo Island; easily the most densely populated areas of South Australia. It it nested between the Diocese of Willochra, to the North, and the Diocese of the Murray to the South and East. Together with these two Dioceses it forms the Province of South Australia, of which the Archbishop of Adelaide is the head.
Young people are our future, and the Diocese of Adelaide is home to 10 Anglican schools, with which it maintains close ties; not only being present at functions, but actively supporting the growth of the schools and their students both as individuals and collectively.
The Diocese of Adelaide maintains a strong emphasis on outreach, and works closely with a number of charitable organisations, largely through Anglicare SA. We also have strong ties to our companion Dioceses, including in Africa, where we are able through funding and hard work, to help build schools, medical centres and supply training and basic needs to people in areas devastated by war and poverty.
