Description

Turning Point has been contracted by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS Victoria) to provide competency training and assessment opportunities to the Victorian AOD workforce. Turning Point staff conducting the AOD competencies have both clinical experience and meet the training and assessment requirements as outlined in the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF). This training is targeted at new employees to the Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) sector, currently employed in DHHS funded AOD Services.

Expression of Interest Only (EOI)

This is an expression of interest only and you must complete all fields required for registering to be considered for a place. Training is conducted over four (4) full days and you must be available to attend all four (4). You will be notified via email if you have been successful in securing a place and you will be required to accept your offer by a due date.

There is no cost to complete these units of competency. Training will be held at Turning Point, 110 Church Street, Richmond 3121 and will commence at 9:30am and conclude at 4:30pm.

CHCAOD006 Provide interventions for people with alcohol and other drugs issues

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to confirm, conduct and monitor evidence based intervention strategies to address alcohol and other drugs issues. This unit includes applying standard processes and procedures to effectively manage tasks and contingencies required in the context of the work role.

The purpose of the training is to enable participants to develop the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to prepare clients for interventions and deliver those interventions under supervison, within the scope of an established individual treatment plan.

This unit of competency is assessed and you will be required to complete assessment tasks.

Dates of training: Tuesday 12th May 2020, Wednesday 13th, 20th & 27th May 2020

You must be available to attend all four (4) days

Who should attend? New employees to the Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) sector, currently employed in DHHS funded AOD Services.

Lunch: A light lunch including a vegetarian selection is provided.

Getting to Turning Point: Trams on Church Street, Bridge Road and Victoria Street; nearest train stations are West and North Richmond; limited all day parking available in the area.

Cancellation policy: If your circumstances change and you no longer can attend this event after you have registered please log into Eventbrite and cancel your registration.
