Retired detective Charlie Bezzina talks about leading the investigation into the execution of gangland identity Alphonse Gangitano.
About this event
It was the execution that kickstarted a reign of gangland terror in Melbourne that would make front page news for the next 12 years right across Australia.
Alphonse Gangitano - a brutal enforcer - was known as the Black Prince of Lygon Street and the face of the feared Melbourne criminal organisation, the Carlton Crew.
But in January 1998, Gangitano was felled by a gunman at his home in Templestowe.
Former homicide detective, Charlie Bezzina, led the investigation into the death of Alphonse Gangitano and this May he will talk extensively about the gangland killing and the alleged suspects in the murder.
Exclusive interview footage will form part of the show.
