Kate Evans | Group Executive, People & Culture at SHAPE Australia

Responsible for the People, Culture and Marketing functions at SHAPE, Kate provides strategic direction to drive employee performance and enhance customer satisfaction to achieve business goals.

Kate commenced at SHAPE in 2004 and assisted with the development and implementation of a formal human resources function to the business. Over the past ten years she has developed and operationalised the strategies associated with the people and culture function, which has included building leadership capabilities and working with the senior leadership team to develop a highly constructive culture.

More recently, Kate has added the marketing and communication functions to her portfolio. Kate is passionate about creating a marketing, brand and CX strategy that generates repeat work and long-term business growth.

Melanie Kurzydlo | Director, Strategy and Business Relations at Growthbuilt

Melanie is an experienced senior executive and business strategist with a creative flair for excelling company expansion goals and improving company culture by linking purpose and passion to the people. Currently, as the Director of Strategy and Business Relations at Growthbuilt, she holds a leading role on the Executive Leadership Team, spearheading the company’s Growth, Enterprise, and Business Development Strategy, which has created an industry leading contractor with revenue growth and heightened profitability year on year.

Melanie currently sits on multiple cross-industry Boards and key industry steering committees driving diversity, progression and innovation within the development, construction, property industry and beyond. She sits on the PCA Diversity Committee and is a board member of CoreNet Global Australia, Giants (GWS) Foundation, and UNSW Foundation. Melanie is also the Co-Lead of Building Pride, leading LGBTI+ property group to raise awareness of related topics within the industry. A winner of the 2019 NAWIC (National Association of Women in Construction) Crystal Vision Award for the advancements of Women and other diverse groups. Melanie continually aims to drive inclusive initiatives for the property development and construction industry, focusing on Women, LGBTI+, Reconciliation, Mental Health, Age and Culture and firmly believes progression and impactful change all starts and finishes with education.

Diana Sanchez | Superintendent Asset Engineering at BHP Mitsubishi Alliance

Diana is a Mining Engineer originally from Colombia with over 16 years' experience in open cut coal and iron ore operations. Diana has been with BHP since 2011 and has held various positions, including Mid Term Mine Planner, Senior Mining Engineer and also Lead Engineer and Superintendent BMA in the Asset Engineering Team. Prior to that, Diana worked in coal mines in the Bowen Basin and also in Colombia.

Diana feels proud to have the opportunity to build an inclusive and diverse team that helps her day after day to be a better leader. Diana, as leader, is a powerful force in the workplace and uses her positive attitude and tireless energy to encourage others to work hard, develop and succeed. Thanks to this culture Diana’s team has been recognised over the past three years by their organisation as a key enabler of delivery safe and efficient projects worth a third of BMA’s portfolio.
