Description

Change hurts - Insights from brain science. Pathways to navigate transformation. Are we hardwired to embrace change? Or resist it? Why do we respond differently? Now that neuroscience is merging with behavioural science, we have new insights into our hardwired responses. Come and find out more on what this means when we are the receivers of change, and more importantly when we initiate change or need to lead others through it.

This session takes a human-centric design approach to applying the learnings. Knowing more about how brain science impacts human performance is critical for how we plan and lead our change interventions, and communicate with others. Some simple tweaks to what we do can make a big difference to how people feel about the change, buy-in and eventually support and champion it.

In this session, we’ll explore recent findings in brain science and how they play out in our professional and personal lives. We will use a unique self-assessment tool (based on David Rock’s SCARF model) that will help you identify your own primal responses to change and new information, and how the brain processes events as a threat or reward.

About the presenter

Lena Ross is fascinated with human behaviour - the good, the bad and the downright ugly! With over two decades of experience in how we are hardwired to learn and change, she brings out the best in others, helping people arrive at the ‘AHA’ moment that is needed to effect sustainable change.

As an experienced speaker and facilitator, Lena challenges audiences just enough to nudge them out of their comfort zone to enable break-through thinking and action. With a curious mind, she brings a future-forward view to her work, with an ability to bring concepts to life in an organisation. Her innovative approaches to embrace collaborative learning, disruptive communication channels, and human-centred co-creation of change have attracted industry recognition and awards.

A great deal of Lena’s work sees her helping organisations navigate through disruption, where change is the new normal. She is regarded by her industry peers as a change management thought leader. Along with her own popular blog posts, Lena is frequently invited to share her expertise as a guest blogger on sites such as Future of Work hub and Lean Change Management.
