Come along and listen to leaders in their field speak on homelessness, suicide, policy change, drug and alcohol and child protection.

About this event

On the 1 October 2021, Chameleon Housing is hosting the Chameleon Community Conference.

Our motivation for hosting the conference is to bring together practitioners, front line workers and Community service providers in a space to listen to keynote speakers share their perspectives on homelessness, suicide, advocating for policy change, drug and alcohol and child protection. The conference will consist of presentations and a panel discussion followed by a networking event.

Session 1 - We are delighted to announce that we have engaged Professor Cameron Parsell Director of Research, Australian Research Council Future Fellow School of Social Science , The University of Queensland to deliver the key note presentation on "Housing, Evidence & Optimism for transformation."

Session 2 - We are also thrilled to advise that Jamie Thompson Regional Manager. Open Minds will present a session on "Suicide Prevention."

Session 3 - Panel discussion lead by Cameron Parsell titled "Advocating for Policy Change." (Panelist - Phil Crane, Jamie Thompsen).

Session 4- Dovetail – "Drug and Alcohol" presentation by Karl Lacis – Team member of Dovetail

Session 5 - Child Protection Presentation – Dr Madonna Boman, Doctor of Philosophy, The University of Queensland, Bachelor of Arts (Humanities), Griffith University. "Taking the long view in child protection" – how young people describe their experiences after leaving care. (including a snapshot of child protection as a lead in).

Networking event to follow afterwards - 3.30 pm - 4.30pm.

Morning Tea, Lunch and a cheese platters are included in registration.
