Event description

Description

Having the interpersonal skills to influence and mobilise others to achieve shared goals is critical for leaders.

Leaders frequently manage situations that involve competing views and tension in relationships, for example, when dealing with an issue around teacher effectiveness.

The ability to have effective open-to-learning conversations, sometimes referred to as courageous conversations or learning conversations, is key to managing these tensions in a manner which builds trust and commitment within your program.

By attending this seminar you will be able to:

  • Through guided practice and feedback, develop your skills in holding "open-to-learning" conversations to support your leadership for the improvement of teaching and learning.
  • Plan and rehearse an "open-to-learning" conversation to address an issue for which you are responsible.

This session will be presented by Chris Daicos. Chris is a highly experienced training and devleopment consultant, providing consultancy to a wide range of educational organisations. She is also actively involved in the tertiary sector, teaching students in the Masters of Social Work, Masters of Teaching and the Masters of Education (Student Well Being) courses at Melbourne University.
