Ceramics - Handbuilding with Clay

Feel like you are spending too much time working and not enough playing?

Whether it's been on your "to do" list for ages and your Pinterest board is overflowing with inspiration and you don't know where to begin, or you've attended a few classes and can't wait to learn more, look no further than Ceramics - Handbuilding with Clay. This set of classes allows you to pick and choose from a variety of options, from serving ware to sculpture - there is even a class dedicated to discussing faults and remedies in ceramics!

Do something special for yourself and join us for fun sessions where you can unwind from a busy week, get your hands into gorgeous clay and create your very own treasure from a blob of mud.

Local clay artist and sculptor, Carolyn Warren-Langford will teach a complete lesson on a different technique with clay every week, with a glazing session in the final week. Come to as many as you like.

Tuesday evening sessions 7 pm - 9:30 pm

Thursday morning sessions 10:30 am - 1 pm

Serving ware set August 13 (Tuesday) or August 15 (Thursday)

Love entertaining? How about making your own unique serving set for your next dinner party? You could create a ceramic salad bowl with side dishes to match, a cake plate set, a condiment set, or even a set of 3 ice-cream bowls - the list is endless!

My new favourite mug August 20 (Tuesday) or August 22 (Thursday)

It's so satisfyingly fun to drink your favourite beverage from a totally unique mug that you made yourself! What will yours look like?

Succulent planters August 27 (Tuesday) or August 29 (Thursday)

Add a splash of colour and fun to your patio with a set of 3 quirky succulent planters created by you. Make planters with faces or even feet!

Sculptural forms September 3 (Tuesday) or September 5 (Thursday)

Ever wanted to make a sculpture from clay? This session is your opportunity to create a small sculptural work, under the guidance of local artist and sculptor Carolyn Warren-Langford. Students can create either a head and shoulders or a seated figure using fundamental handbuilding techniques such as coil building, free form and carving.

Ceramics faults and remedies September 10 (Tuesday) or September 12 (Thursday)

Have you created something from clay and it didn't quite turn out as expected? It happens to the best of us but help is at hand! Learn about common faults and remedies in ceramics, the importance of testing and many other useful tips and tricks in this session. Bring your faulty pieces and ask questions!

Glaze week September 17 (Tuesday) or September 19 (Thursday)

Glazing week is your opportunity to apply glaze to your fired creations before they are fired for the final time. They will be ready to collect and take home to treasure approximately a week after the session.

Each lesson 2.5 hours, $50 + firing fee

All clay, glaze and use of equipment and tools is included.

Please dress for mess!
