Description

Hey there!

Welcome to the Eventbrite page of Central CoderDojo, a place where everyone can learn how to code!

The sessions are held in room 3-06, above the stairs and through the glass double-doors at North Metropolitan TAFE (previously Central Institute of Technology), 30 Aberdeen St, Northbridge, 6003. Our sessions go from 10 am to 12 pm.

There is only one rule... Be cool!

See you there,

Lucas Angelon Arouca

Champion at Central CoderDojo

Ticket Information

The tickets must be booked by a parent / guardian. By registering for this CoderDojo session, the parent / guardian agrees to the following terms:

  • If the ninja is 11 years old or younger, a parent or guardian must stay at the Dojo for the duration of the session. The parent does not need to stay in the room next to your child, but must stay at the Dojo location;
  • Central CoderDojo cannot take responsibility for allergies or other conditions. If you have specific concerns about your child's well-being, please stay at the Dojo for the duration of the session; and
  • I give permission for CoderDojo WA to use photo media of my child at the Dojo to promote the Dojo.

What is CoderDojo?

  • A Dojo is an independent and casual coding club for young people aged 7 to 17 (Ninjas). Dojos are free to attend;
  • A Dojo is a great place for young people who are interested in coding, computers, technology and digital creativity to hang out, work on their own projects and meet others who have similar interests;
  • Dojos are run by Champions (Coordinators) and Mentors. Many Champions and Mentors are volunteers;
  • A Dojo is NOT a class or workshop. There is no curriculum. A Dojo offers, instead, an open, free and unstructured club setting in which young people can explore the world of code; and
  • It is the balance of freedom and guidance that makes a Dojo effective.

What happens at CoderDojo clubs?

  • During a Dojo session, Ninjas will have free time to work on their own projects;
  • If Ninjas have never coded before, Mentors will help get them started on their own coding projects (typically a game, website or other ideas);
  • If Ninjas already have something to work on, the Dojo offers a supportive environment where they can learn and advance their projects;
  • Instead of offering structured lessons, we encourage Ninjas to find answers for themselves, helping them become self-motivated learners;
  • We encourage Ninjas to help and mentor each other;
  • Sometimes the organisers of a Dojo may set up some activities including workshops, demonstrations and ice-breakers; and
  • Every organiser and Dojo is different, meaning the content will vary between each Dojo.

Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?

The event organiser can be contacted at perthcit.au@coderdojo.com

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

It is not necessary to bring the printed ticket to the event, let's save the world one tree at a time!

The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?

Yes, as long as the number of tickets is correct, there is no problem.
