Event description
Join us for a discussion about improving our cemetery services.

About this Event

Tweed Shire Council manages 11 cemeteries, ranging from the large regional facility, Tweed Valley Lawn Cemetery, to small village cemeteries.

We are reviewing ‘how we do death’ in the Tweed and we want to hear your ideas about how to improve our services.

We want to ensure that we are offering the best cemetery services for our community.

There are many opportunities to discuss and explore including traditional options such as burial plots and memorials to store ashes as well as more sustainable options such as ‘Eco Burials’ where loved ones are buried in a biodegradable casket and remembered with tree plantings.

We are hosting two community focus groups to kick start our business planning process.

During the focus groups we will be exploring the idea of “What does doing death well mean?”

The workshop style event will discuss creative ideas for memorialising our loved ones as well as ways to utilise the history and spaces of our cemeteries.

Spaces are limited and bookings are essential. Refreshments will be provided.
