About this event
Born in England in 1826, the young Charles found his calling while working at the Greenwich Observatory. Headhunted by the South Australian Government to develop electric telegraphy, Charles arrived in Adelaide with his young wife Alice in 1855.
Through State Library collections and Trove, we look behind Todd’s working life to discover the stories of his personal life in the Adelaide community including church, chess and cricket circles. Our slideshow traces his haunts in Adelaide and reveals his strong connections with the State Library.
Celebrate the 150th anniversary of the opening of the Overland Telegraph that linked Australia to the world.
