Celebrating the legacy of Catherine Helen Spence

About this Event

Presented by the Fay Gale Centre for Research on Gender and the Catherine Helen Spence Scholarship Committee

Catherine Helen Spence (1825-1910) was a significant South Australian woman - a noted social and political reformer and writer. Not long after she died in 1910, the SA government established a fund for a scholarship in her honour.

Many notable South Australian women have received this scholarship over the last 110 years and have contributed to the betterment of social conditions in this state.

For the 125th anniversary of women's suffrage in SA, the Catherine Helen Spence Scholarship Committee and Fay Gale Centre at the University of Adelaide are celebrating her legacy by exploring the lives and work of the scholarship recipients.

Event begins at 5pm for a 5.30pm start, refreshments provided.

We look forward to seeing you.
