Celebrating Queensland women of influence (Years 7–10)

Join us for a special collections-focused workshop celebrating International Women’s Day , as we share remarkable stories of Queensland women who helped shape our state.

Drawing from State Library’s rich collections, this session highlights voices of resilience, creativity, and leadership, from pioneers and activists to artists, nurses, and everyday women whose contributions have often gone untold.

Students will explore primary sources including letters, photographs, newspaper articles, and personal artefacts that bring experiences to life. Discover how their stories influenced Queensland’s social, cultural, and community history, and continue to inspire new generations today.

Workshop notes:

· This session is delivered via Microsoft Teams.

· This session is a multi-schools event, open to all schools for registration.

· Students will be shown how to use State Library’s One Search catalogue and online resources to explore women’s perspectives across time.

· Bookings for this workshop close 30 minutes before the event.
