Event description

Description

LeadLearn Consulting has been inspiring lifelong learning through collaboration and reflective practice for over four years in South Australia. In this time, we have worked alongside hundreds of teachers in DfE, Independent and Catholic schools, giving over 10,000 students a voice regarding their learning environment.

LeadLearn recognises the amazing things that can happen when educators firmly believe in their ability to work together, to positively impact student achievement.

We would like to invite you to an event that celebrates your work and highlights the impact great teaching has on student learning. You will have opportunities to listen, collaborate, reflect and share with other brilliant educators. Combining keynote and guest speakers, workshops and panel discussions, this day recognises the lifelong impact of inspirational teachers.

Your choice of three Educator Workshops:

Coaching vs Mentoring – Matt Wadewitz:

Both are equally important but what is the distinct difference between coaching and mentoring? Develop an appreciation of how coaching enhances cognitive change and how coaches are mediators of thinking; questioning and challenging thought, reflection and action.

Meditation and Teacher Health – Luke Darcy:

Teaching is a challenging and demanding job with many incredible rewards. It can, however, leave educators exhausted and fatigued. Find out the importance of a balanced lifestyle approach to teacher wellbeing and how you can take care of yourself in order to get the most from your students.

Clarity in the Classroom – Karen Holmes:

For students to progress confidently and be responsible for their learning, it is essential that teacher and students have shared clarity about what is to be learnt. Gain insights into the importance of Learning Intentions and Success Criteria so that students know this is what I’m learning, this is why I’m learning it, and this is how I use it’.

Feedback for Improvement – Damian Hill:

Effective teachers use feedback to gather information about students’ understanding, to assist students to advance their own learning, and to verify the impact of their own practice. Discover how using a range of feedback strategies can inform you about a student’s performance relative to achievable learning goals.

Connections in Learning – Karen Holmes:

Connection to the content and the development of skills and knowledge is as vital to the learning brain as it is to the person learning. Discover how personally relevant, meaningful activities that both engage students emotionally and connect with what they already know, are what help build neural connections and long-term memory storage.

Metacognition: Thinking about Thinking – Damian Hill:

Metacognitive skills enable students to regulate their thinking and to become independent learners who can enhance their school and life experiences. Learn strategies to help students benefit from being able to recognise how they solve problems creatively, think analytically, communicate effectively, and collaborate with others.

Student Voice and Collaboration – Karen Holmes:

Student voice is an approach to education that values the perspectives, experiences and aspirations of students. It helps enrich our schools and communities as well as actively influencing classroom decision-making. Develop ways to create a collaborative culture that values every student’s voice and encourages ideas to be nurtured, respected and acted upon.
