Thank you for registering for the CBD activations online grant information session. City of Sydney
Event description
You're invited to an online briefing and interactive pitch session to help you apply for the newly opened CBD activation grants.

About this Event

The City of Sydney recently adopted The Community Recovery Plan a strategic plan for economic, cultural and social recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. This plan gives direction to how we will work in partnership with our communities, businesses, the state government and other local governments to lay the groundwork for recovery in our city.

The Sydney CBD has been particularly hard hit by COVID-19 regulations enforcing social distancing. Businesses located in the CBD have lost the patronage of thousands of workers, as well as the many tourists that normally visit throughout the year.

Creative and cultural practitioners and enterprises have also been greatly affected by the pandemic. Many artists, producers, and performers are sole traders and as such have had limited access to financial support offered by the government.

The City of Sydney Council invites you to an online briefing session which includes an interactive pitch and networking session to help facilitate collaboration between businesses to encourage activations in the CBD and Haymarket.

The CBD Activation Matching Grant offers matched funding up to $10,000 for CBD/Haymarket businesses and creative and cultural practitioners to activate shopfronts or nearby spaces to encourage visitors to return safely to the CBD.

The Night-time Diversification Grant is matched grant funding up to $10,000 for 1 or 2 years for programming at night (6pm to 6am) to encourage increased variety of offerings in commercial precincts.

The Live Music and Performance Grant is match funding up to $20,000 for capital improvements to premises associated with live music and performance and cultural production and participation.

During the online event you’ll see:

Registration

When you register you will be asked if you would like to submit a ‘pitch’ document, which can be shown at the event or passed onto others who wish to find a partner to work with for the activation. Please note it is not essential to submit a 'pitch' in order to attend the briefing.

If you would like to produce a 'pitch', it can be submitted preferably in video format no more than 60 seconds in length. In the ‘pitch’ please provide details of who you are, what type of activation you are interested in and who you wish to collaborate with.

Please submit the ‘pitch’ video by Tuesday 11 August at city.sydney/grant-pitches. Please title your video with your first and last name.

We will select some of the best ‘pitches’ to showcase at the briefing.
