Securing a safe climate means we have to stop burning fossil fuels. The ‘Big Four’ banks, many super funds & energy providers are using our money to fund fossil fuel projects. Taking our money away – going fossil free – sends a message loud and clear that this is no longer acceptable.

We're excited to welcome to this workshop new colleagues from Melbourne 350.org who will share stories of the amazing global divestment campaign. We congratulate them on their recent campaign success with Moreland Council's public announcement that it will choose another bank if the Commonwealth Bank doesen't don't stop investing in fossil fuel projects...!! We look forward to planning the future of the divestment campaign locally and regionally together...

– We will open with a keynote with Vicky Fysh (National University Campaign Coordinator,350.Org) We will then go on to explore divestment – Inspired by campaigns like “Fossil Free” we will learn more about the breadth and diversity of our divestment opportunities including not only banks and super funds but electricity providers etc, some of the issues around personal divestment and emerging tools that are coming to make divestment easier; Then enjoy a Delicious Local lunch together (donation $10) then choose between concurrent workshops; University divestment; Hands on Community Organising with a case study on primary school mums; Local Gov’t divestment (Michael Stanley, Moreland Council Campaign); Hear from all workshops in the Plenary and then – for the Final session, together we’ll plan the Central Victorian Divestment Strategy !!
