❅ FREE EVENT ❅ ALL AGES ❅ #CAROLSINCOLOR
Registered participants will be allocated two (2) free personal colour packets each filled with coloured holi-powder to toss into the air during our timed colour blasts. Colour packets will be available on the event day, once you have checked in and have your wristband to enter the Colour Zone.
Coloured holi-powder packets are strictly limited, so please ensure you register today to avoid disappointment.
IMPORTANT: All children under 18 years of age must be registered by and accompanied to the event by a parent or legal guardian.
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
Carols in Colour is a free, all ages event. However, children under the age of 18 years of age wanting to participate in colour throwing or enter the colour zone must be registered by and accompanied to the event by a parent or guardian.
We strongly recommend that infants, children with known allergies, sensitivity to cornstarch/or respiratory issues/asthma etc DO NOT participate in the event - and encourage parents to make an informed decision whether they want their children to participate based on their individual circumstances.
How can I purchase colour packets?
Unlike other colour runs and events, colour packets are FREE at Carols in Colour. Each registered participant will be given their own colour personal packets filled with coloured holi-powder to toss into the air during our timed colour blasts. Please note, colour packets are limited so make sure you register before the event to avoid disappointment.
How much does it cost to participate in the event?
Carols in Colour is FREE to attend and participate in.
What do I wear?
Anything white or light - so the bright coloured holi-powder really makes an impact!
What is the coloured holi-powder? Is it safe?
The holi-powder is cornstarch, coloured with food-grade minerals & dyes. The combined ingredients are all natural, skin safe, eco-friendly and non-toxic. Participation in this event is discouraged for anyone suffering allergies to these particular ingredients.
Will the coloured holi-powder stain my hair?
If you have light-colored or highlighted hair, you may want to oil your hair before the event. This will help keep the holi-powder from sticking to your luscious locks. Coconut oil or olive oil work best but a good leave-in conditioner will usually do the trick as well. Every head of hair is different and will react differently to the colour, especially highlighted or coloured hair. The pink, red and blue coloured holi-powders, in particular, have been known to stain blonde hair for a few days after contact. We advise participants take the necessary precautions to avoid any unwanted stains to hair such as tying hair up and wearing a cap, hat, bandana or even shower cap or swimming cap.
Will the coloured holi-powder hurt my eyes?
Make sure you avoid getting powder directly in your eyes. If you do experience any eye discomfort, please seek immediate assistance from one of our friendly first aid officers at the Carols in Colour first aid tent. If you have contact lenses, make sure you remove them prior to flushing out your eyes. If you have sensitive eyes or are under 18 years of age we do recommend that you wear some form of protective eyewear like sunglasses or swimming goggles.
Will the coloured holi-powder stain my clothes/shoes?
Please be aware that the coloured holi-powder may take several washes to remove from light or white clothing and may not wash out entirely. Make sure you remove all excess holi-powder at one of the Colour Clean-up stations and dust yourself off again outside at home before adding water to your coloured clothes. Wash your Carols in Colour clothes separately to other items with cold water. Whilst the most of the coloured holi-powder should wash out of your clothing, we don’t recommend that you wear anything expensive or precious as it might be permanently damaged. This includes parents and guardians who will be in contact with children participating in the colour throwing.
What about my car seats or carpets when I get home?
Just like when you’re coming back from the beach, we recommend you take precautions to protect your car seats from residue. Make sure you put down an old sheet or towels before hopping into the car and travelling home. When you get home, make sure you remove your coloured clothes and shoes before stepping on any carpet/rugs.
What do I need to bring?
- Photo ID if you’re a registered participant or parent/guardian accompanying minors
- Camera/Phone – think of your next Instagram post or Facebook profile pic! Make sure you share your uploads with us using the hashtag #carolsincolour
- Please note that there are no lockers or no cloakroom at this event, so we recommend carrying a minimal amount of personal items.
Where/when/how can I collect my packets of coloured holi-powder after registering online?
Your packets of coloured holi-powder will only be available for collection on the day of the event at Westfield Knox. You can collect them from the Colour Tent with your printed eventbrite ticket. Please remember to bring ID.
Can I bring my own coloured holi-powder?
No. As a strict safety precaution we will enforce that any coloured holi-powder sourced from anywhere outside of what is provided at the Carols In Colour event will not be allowed. Coloured holi-powder is to be thrown in the designated Colour Zone only.
How do I get there?
It’s going to be a busy event so we’re encouraging everyone to car pool with family and friends (the more the merrier right!).
There is a bus station on-site at Westfield Knox, which is located at the Bupa entry so public transport is a great option. For further information on getting to and from the centre please visit the Westfield Knox website.
As the event will be held in the car park located behind Knox Tavern, parking will be extremely limited around this site. Guests are invited to park around the centre with closest parking entrances near Kmart and Coles entrances.
What happens if the weather is bad?
The Carols in Colour concert will continue, but without coloured holi-powder. Regular updates will be posted on both our Facebook Event Page and the Westfield Knox website.
How does the colour throwing work?
It’s really simple. Collect your packets of coloured holi-powder from the Registration Tent on arrival and head to the Colour Zone for the concert where you can throw a handful of coloured holi-powder into the air during the timed colour blasts. Please be courteous to others – do not aim the coloured holi-powder at the mouth or eyes.
Remember; don’t throw all your coloured holi-powder at once! Save some for the timed colour blasts throughout the concert!
At specific intervals during the concert we have ‘colour blasts’ (every 15 minutes). At these times, everyone throws a handful of their coloured holi-powder up in the air in unison, creating brilliant clouds of Christmas colour!
I would like to volunteer for Carols in Colour, where can I sign up?
Please email email@example.com
Are there any cleaning facilities at the event?
At the exit of the Colour Zone, we have our Colour Clean-up stations. Simply blow and shake the coloured holi-powder off your body and clothes with the help of our friendly and helpful Colour Crew.
Can I bring a camera/phone? Will the coloured holi-powder damage it?
Yes, photography/videography is allowed and encouraged! Share your favourite photos and video from the event using the hash tag #carolsincolour.
Images, video, or audio captured at the event are not authorised for resale or commercial use without the express written consent of Westfield Knox.
Whilst you should be able to dust the majority of coloured holi-powder off your phone/camera, use of these items at this event is at your own risk and we encourage participants to take care of their personal items particularly whilst in the Colour Zone. Westfield Knox takes no responsibility for any loss / damage to your personal items whilst at Carols in Colour.
Do I have to bring my printed registration ticket to the event?
Yes, please bring your printed registration ticket along with your personal ID to the event.
Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
Yes, tickets are transferrable, as long as all children under 18 years of age are registered and accompanied by a parent or guardian who has read and agreed to the participation waiver form on their behalf.
The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?
Yes, that is fine if the name of the attendees does not match the name on the registration so long as the new participant is willing to sign a participation waiver and all children under the age of 18 are accompanied by a parent or guardian who is willing and able to sign their participation waiver.
How can I contact the organiser with any questions about the event?
Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
