Event description

Description

The foundations of career development begin early in a child’s life. Through play, young children explore their environment, learn to problem solve, make decisions, and adjust to change. From a young age, children envision themselves in possible roles for their future. They talk about and try on their hopes and dreams. During these formative years, young children are influenced by family, school, and media — and need to be supported in their career development.

The importance of appropriate exposure to the world of work at the primary level cannot be understated. Children form stereotypical views of the world from an early age. Biased assumptions lead to a narrowing of career aspirations and an inability to relate learning to a world beyond school.

Come and hear about ways to engage with primary students, to help them explore their environment, learn to problem solve, make decisions, and thrive in an ever-changing world.

A light breakfast will be served.

This is a co-hosted event with the Queensland Guidance and Counselling Association and the Queensland Association of Students Advisers.
