Description

This practical course has been designed specifically for cardiologists, cardiology trainees or cardiovascular physicians to upskill in the rapidly growing area of clinical genomics.

A short presentation will be followed by small-group, case-based workshops, to enable you to learn practical skills to apply in the clinic.

You will learn:

  • Basic principles of genomics, including test types and limitations

  • Principles of genomic testing for cardiomyopathy, arrythmia and aortopathy

  • How to confidently interpret genomic test reports

  • Ethical, legal and social implications of testing, including effects on insurance

Expert facilitators include cardiologists and clinical geneticists from The Royal Melbourne Hospital and Austin Health (Professor Jithu Vohra, Associate Professor Dominica Zentner, Professor David Hare, Dr Jay Ramchand, Professor Paul James, Dr Mathew Wallis and Associate Professor Alison Trainer).

This unique learning opportunity is being offered free-of-charge to participants, through the Melbourne Genomics Health Alliance.
