Event description

Description

A panel session with War on Waste host Craig Reucassel will be a highlight of the Centre for Air pollution, energy and health Research (CAR) 2019 Symposium, which will focus on how changes in our cities and transport affect air quality and health.

The symposium on 31 May will also showcase new research in air pollution and energy transitions.

The plenary session will feature two leading transport and built environment academics:

  • Professor Mark Stevenson, Professor of Urban Transport and Public Health, University of Melbourne, who will present on 'Cities, transport and population health: Opportunities to enhance air quality'.

  • Professor Chris Pettit, Professor of Urban Science, Faculty of Built Environment, UNSW, who will present on 'City analytics and smart cities: Informing urban planning and air quality improvements'.

The panel session with Craig Reucassel will involve academics, policy makers and community representatives discussing the question: 'What research is needed to inform urban and transport planning policy decisions that support health through better air quality and energy use?'
