brings you

A night celebrating the creative contribution of the BBC

Stories told by the people who were there!

Relive the British Broadcasting Corporation’s era of creating long-lasting and memorable programs: Dr Who, Fawlty Towers, Bergerac, Miss Marples,Dad's Army, Morecambe and Wise...  so many examples.

Learn why the BBC’s annual use of film outstripped the whole American television business - even though the US was making programs on 35mm film!

The BBC had a large staff base, housed in purpose built and owned high tech buildings. Hear revelations of people and facilities outside the movie budgets, programmes seemed to be low cost as the facilities were not budgeted for.

A financial rethink towards the end of this era had a large impact on the company's ability to explore different program ideas before launching them as a series.

And featuring our special guests for this night:

  • Bernard Ashby, Chief Editor BBC, UK / Aust
  • Butch Calderwood OAM ACS UK / Aust
  • Ray Henman ACS DOP / Director UK / Aust

Be a witness to the content shot and produced by our guests, a journey with challenges in achieving the final product - in many cases, a series of episodes which all had to measure up to the high demands and expectations of the BBC.

There's limited space at the venue, so strictly first come, first served.  Register now to ensure your place.
