About this event

This session is an in-person event.

During this session you will gain knowledge on what should be considered when capital raising and how best to prepare for a successful funding process. We will hear insights from Jackie Vullinghs, Principal at AirTree Ventures; Casey Flint, Investment Associate at Square Peg; Stew Glynn, Co-Founder & investing partner at Ten13; Daniel Szekely, Partner at Equity Venture Partners; and moderated by Kelsey Doorey, Startup Business Development Manager at AWS.

Casey Flint, Square Peg

Jackie Vullinghs, AirTree

Jackie is a Principal at AirTree Ventures, an early and growth stage venture firm backing world-class entrepreneurs at startups like Canva, A Cloud Guru and Linktree. Prior to AirTree, Jackie invested in Fintech at NAB Ventures, and was Chief of Staff at B2B SaaS startup Kalo, a Series A stage startup based in San Francisco & London. Jackie started her career on the trading floor at Citigroup and Merrill Lynch as a VP in Equity Derivatives, and graduated from Cambridge University.

Stew Glynn, Ten13

Stew Glynn is a co-founder and investing partner of TEN13, Australia’s largest syndicated investment platform targeting early-stage technology investments. TEN13 has supported exciting break-out companies such as GO1, Chipper Cash and Mr Yum. Prior to this, Stew was the lead partner at Transition Level Investments, the family office for multiple time entrepreneur Steve Baxter, making investments in over 40 technology companies in Australia and abroad. Stew is also a reformed M&A practitioner and consultant holding an extensive career at General Electric and KPMG across varied industries and roles.

Daniel Szekely, Equity Venture Partners

Dan is a Partner at EVP, having joined the firm prior to the launch of its first fund in 2016. Previously, he spent ten years as a corporate and commercial lawyer including leading a specialist start-up focussed legal practice. His clients included a number of venture backed and growth stage technology companies and start-up investors. He is experienced in advising on capital raisings, acquisitions and disposals, corporate reconstructions and a range of financing transactions.

In addition to being an Investment Committee member, Dan has broad responsibility for EVP’s regulatory and transactional functions and he manages the commercial and legal investment processes for each portfolio company. He combines deep commercial and transactional experience with a pragmatic startup perspective, making him a sought-after board member, mentor and advisor to a number of founding teams, both within and external to the EVP portfolio.

Moderated by Kelsey Doorey, Startup Business Development Manager at AWS

Kelsey Doorey is a US founder who moved to Australia in 2021 and joined the AWS team. She has spent most of her career in startups since Uni in 2003. She has worked with startups that include 2 now unicorns, 1 IPO, 1 acquisition and over $1B USD capital raised, including founding and running her own startup in LA for 5 years. Kelsey has an MBA from UCLA Anderson and a BA from Columbia University. She is proud to be one of the female founders who receive 2% of US venture capital funding annually.
