Cancer Support Workshop: A holistic approach to support cancer patients
Event Information
Description
Presented by Chad Walkaden.
While oncology services remain a fundamental component in approaching cancer, there seems to be an evolving need to focus on ways to help individuals and their families throughout this challenging period of illness.
This dual focus is increasingly seen by cancer leaders around the world as a truly authentic holistic or global approach. How does this coincide with conventional medicine and how easily can it be adopted? Come along to hear these answers and more.
Chad Walkaden is a three time cancer survivor who has tertiary studies in education, social work and family therapy. He has developed an educational/therapeutic program for people with cancer (The Sunflower Model: Life Beyond Treatment) in collaboration with Associate Professor Ian Kerridge (VELiM, Sydney University). Chad also partners with Redkite, an Australian Cancer Charity which operates group programs across Australia.
