Data modelling is arguably the single most important activity in information system design and a basic competency for all information systems professionals.

This 2-day course provides information systems professionals with foundation skills in data modelling.

To reinforce the study material, the course is rich in exercises and case studies, equipping students to develop their own Data Models.

Speaker Biography

The course presenter is David Wiebe.

David has over 25 years of business experience covering; consulting, architecture, data management, systems development and integration. He practices a solution architecture approach for designing and delivering information systems that utilise services and data architectures to implement business functionality, while aligning to an enterprise architecture framework.

He is most experienced in data modelling, starting in the 90’s when designing relational databases using logical data models began. Throughout his career, David has designed and built conceptual, logical and physical data models which were used to implement OLTP databases, Inman data warehouses, BI reporting cubes and messaging schemas based on canonical designs. These strategic enterprise designs were implemented for large-scale application development efforts.

David has built and maintained enterprise conceptual and logical models for more than 10 organisations, across industries such as: financial services, commonwealth and state government, as well as resources and utilities.

He is a practitioner of the Zachman Enterprise Architecture Framework, a contributor to Standards Australia 2006 AS 4590 - Interchange of Client Information, a co-author of the Queensland Government Information Portfolio Framework and has worked with IBM’s IFW standard for financial services.

David is currently the DAMA Australia Chapter president.

DAMA Member Discount for current members

Firstly, you will need to find out your DAMA member by visiting the member's area on the DAMA Australia website or by contacting DAMA Australia. Next, register for the course by selecting a member or corporate discount ticket and then enter your Association Member no when requested.

Ensure your membership is current and the contact details entered in your registration match the details DAMA have for your membership. Payments and Refunds

We sometimes offer promotional discounts for particular events. Discounts and promotions are offered on full rate tickets only for the events specified only and are not cumulative. Only one discount or promotion can be applied per ticket or group registration.

We do not offer refunds if you do not attend the course or if you cancel within 7 days of the event. Refunds requested earlier than 7 days are available, less any non-refundable expenses we have incurred.

We may postpone or cancel an event at our discretion when the services cannot be provided satisfactorily. We will let you know as soon as possible if this occurs. No compensation is payable for postponement.

If you request an invoice, the full amount must be paid within 14 days, or no later than 48 hours before the event. Registrations will not be held after the invoice due date and may be sold to other customers.
