The Gala Dinner is the Canberra business community's pre-eminent annual event.

This year our keynote speaker is Professor Ian Williamson, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean of Commerce at Victoria University of Wellington. Dr Williamson will discuss the barriers organisations face when attempting to realise the potential created by technological, demographic and social-political disruptions.

Prof Ian Williamson | Pro-Vice-Chancellor & Dean of Commerce
Victoria University of Wellington

Professor Ian O. Williamson is the Pro-Vice Chancellor and Dean of the Business School at Victoria University, Wellington (New Zealand). He is also a research fellow of the Melbourne Business School (Australia).

Prof. Williamson’s research focuses on how the development of effective “talent pipelines” can enhance organizational and community outcomes In particular, his research focuses on how human and social capital influences firm operational and financial outcomes, talent management in the context of new ventures and growth-oriented firms, the role of human resource practices in driving firm innovation and the impact of social issues on firm outcomes.

Prof Williamson has worked with executives in over 20 countries across six continents providing consulting services in the areas of strategic human resource management, managing organizational change and innovation, employee recruitment and retention, and executive coaching. He received his Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (USA) and a bachelor’s degree in business from Miami University (Oxford, Ohio USA).
