The Consulate General of Canada & the Canadian Australian Chamber of Commerce (CACC) formally invite you to attend a private trade reception in honour of Canada Day.

Join us for our first trade reception in Sydney since COVID-19 landed on our shores. We invite you to meet the recently appointed Consul General for Canada, Mr. André François Giroux and the Consul & Senior Trade Commissioner, Ms. Sarah Quigley along with CACC board members, volunteers and Trade Commissioners as we celebrate Canada’s birthday.

With limited space, please RSVP by 24 June 2021.  COVID protocols in place in line with the NSW Government, Department of Health advice.

Consul General for Canada in Sydney

Mr. André François Giroux

André François Giroux (LLB [Civil Law], University of Montréal, 1992; LLM [International Business Law], McGill University, 1994; LLM [European Community Law], College of Europe, 1995; MBA, University of Montréal, 2001) joined the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in 1995.

He served abroad at the Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York (1996 to 1999), in part during Canada’s term on the Security Council, and as counsellor at the Embassy to France (2004 to 2008).

In Canada, he has had assignments in the International Trade Law Bureau, in the International Economic Relations and Summits Division and in the Office of Protocol.

From 2008 to 2010, he was director of the Non-Proliferation, Disarmament and Space Division, and from 2010 to 2012, director of the Office of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Most recently, Mr. Giroux was the NAFTA secretary and director of the Trade Agreements Secretariat, after having served as ambassador to Denmark from 2012 to 2016.

Mr. Giroux is presently the Consul General of Canada in Sydney (Australia).

Ms. Sarah Quigley

Sarah Quigley joined Global Affairs Canada in 2007 after working as a corporate lawyer with Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP.

Sarah has served in the Office of the Deputy Minister of International Trade and in the International Law Bureau as a specialist in economic sanctions law.

Outside of headquarters, Sarah has served in Washington, DC as Special Advisor to the Canadian Ambassador to the United States; as well as management roles in New Zealand and Australia.

Sarah currently represents Canada as Consul and Senior Trade Commissioner at the Canadian Consulate in Sydney, Australia.

The Canadian Australian Chamber of Commerce (CACC) is a non-profit volunteer based organisation that aims to bring businesses together to facilitate strong economic and trade relationships between Canada and Australia.

Organiser of Canada Day Trade Reception

The Canadian Australian Chamber of Commerce (CACC) is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to build quality business connections and facilitate a strong environment for economic trade & investment between Canada and Australia.

As a volunteer based organisation our objectives are:

 

  • To promote the development and expansion of bilateral trade & commerce. 
  • To promote and support investment between Canada and Australia.
  • To represent Canadian interests in Australia and Australian interests in Canada.
  • To maintain and foster a strong relationship with Canadian & Australian Government agencies in matters relating to trade, industry and commerce between the two countries.
