Did you know the ANU campus has over 50 culturally significant outdoor art sculptures? Join Emeritus Professor David Williams AM on a walking tour to see a selection of these sculptures, some of which you may not know existed.

The itinerary for the walking tour is as follows:

  1. Meet in the centre courtyard of the Australian Centre on China in the World
  2. Phenomics Facility
  3. University Graduate House precinct
  4. Menzies Library
  5. HC Coombs Building precinct
  6. The Chancellery
  7. School of Art & Design precinct

This tour travels through a significant part of our large campus. Please wear comfortable footwear, bring a hat, drink bottle and sunscreen.

Emeritus Professor David Williams AM, trained as an art teacher in Victoria. In 1986, he was appointed Director, Canberra School of Art in 1986 (now ANU School of Art & Design) and retired in 2006. He is currently an HRC Adjunct Professor in the ANU Research School of Humanities and the Arts. His research interests are in Public Art and Contemporary Asian and Australian art and the ANU Art Collection. Curatorial activities include the first three Queensland Art Gallery's Asia Pacific Triennial exhibitions as a member of the National Advisory Committee, the Adelaide University Ballets Russes project exhibitions and with Dr Caroline Turner, HRC exhibitions "Recovering Lives" and "Thresholds of Tolerance". Most recently "Making Connections: S.E Asian Art @ ANU". He was a past Chair, Australian Council of University Art & Design Schools and Art Monthly Australia and Deputy Chair, Canberra Glassworks Board. He is currently spokesperson for the ACT arts advocacy Childers Group and Chair of the ANU Visual Arts Endowment.
