Overview

CAMEL+ Introductory Training Course - Workshop One: Understanding Heat Loads / Program Basics Walkthrough

This is an Introductory Training Workshop for the CAMEL+ heat load calculation software. The content has been designed to suit new CAMEL+ users, graduate engineers and HVACR technicians. More experienced users can also utilise this workshop as a refresher of the basics and an introduction to the CAMEL+ platform.

In this foundational session, we will cover a walkthrough of the basics of CAMEL+, how to set up a load calculation and the most effective ways to analyse your results. We will also create a heat load model for an example project during the session to solidify your understanding of the basics.

New for this round: Optional pre-work videos for Workshop One

Based on participant feedback, we’ve moved a small set of foundational concepts into short, self-paced pre-work videos. These videos will be provided only to participants who register for Workshop One.

This change allows Workshop One to move at a faster pace and spend more time diving into the details of the worked examples and analysing the results.

We recommend watching the pre-work videos before attending Workshop One if you aren’t already familiar with the following concepts:

  • The different components of load calculations – external and internal loads, and an overview of the Carrier Method of load estimation
  • The principles of heat storage and how Storage Mass works in CAMEL+
  • Fan heat gain in CAMEL+ (draw-through vs blow-through)

Workshop One Core Content

In addition to the pre-work topics above, you will learn:

  • How to get the most out of the new features in the CAMEL+ platform
  • How each input screen in CAMEL+ is used
  • How to efficiently set up your AHUs, Zones and Rooms using the Tree Structure screen
  • Understanding AHU coil psychrometrics and bypass factors
  • How to review the psychrometric graphs to sense check your results
  • How to best use the different results screens

There will be interactive Q&A time throughout the session. Active participation in the worked example project is encouraged - if you don't have a current subscription to CAMEL+, you can sign up for a free 14-day trial here before the event. Course summary notes and a CPD Certificate for 4 hours of training will be provided after the session.

Attendees are also encouraged to register for Workshop Two (sold separately) which will be held the following week. In Workshop Two we will cover additional features not covered in Workshop One, as well as further worked example projects to strengthen your understanding of the key concepts.
