Event description

Description

Anxiety is one of the most frequently diagnosed mental health conditions and is taking a huge toll on the health and wellbeing of those affected.
Despite the strong presence of anxiety in many people’s lives, there is a lot of misunderstanding about anxiety which also leads to difficulty managing the condition.
This workshop will allow you to learn about how anxiety comes to be in the body and will equip you with practical ways of taming the anxiety.

Learning Outcomes
Understanding the autonomic nervous system and its relation to anxiety.
Increasing awareness of different memory systems in the body and their role in anxiety.
Developing some simple strategies to work with your body in regulating anxiety.

About the presenter
Karin El-Monir is drawn to the concept of Hagazussa (fence rider) and has straddled different domains throughout her personal and professional life.
She currently spends her life straddling education and therapy, working as a trainer and psychotherapist specialising the area in stress and trauma.
Karin is drawn to approaches which involve the body, including neurobiology and physiology and is eternally fascinated that her spiritual take on therapy is much closer to the physical domain than previously expected.
Karin lives on the Gold Coast and when she is not busy with work, she loves exploring her surrounds, including her favourite gym where she lifts weights and punches things as hard as she can (under safe supervision).
