Calm Amidst Chaos; Reducing Your Stress Response
Being stressed and busy has become the norm. So much advice is given on doing less, giving things up and changing aspects of your life to be less stressed, but what if you can't?
What if, between work, the kids, illness, family life, study, or more, the 'something that has to give,' becomes you?
This four week course will empower you to lessen your emotional and physiological anxiety response so as to feel more in control and centred, even when you are having the day, or month, from hell!
It is tailored to go beyond the cognitive, 'think positively' hype, and into the embodied experience of being calm and carrying this with you, long after the course has ended.
You will receive;
- Warmth and humour from a down to earth facilitator
- Techniques that are not difficult to use
- Assistance that doesn't require you to change all sorts of aspects of your life
- A supportive environment to implement tools and techniques
- Medicare rebates for each session are likely applicable ( read further on event booking page)
- High quality psychological expertise, without the price tag or the spotlight on yourself "

Danielle is a warm, relaxed and holistic psychologist. Her approach focuses on deeping your tolerance and understanding of yourself, your relationships and how you respond to your world.
Danielle strives to help you move through obstacles that hinder your path to feeling good, explore alternative ways to cope with distress and to recognise your inner strength and value.
Going to see a therapist can be very nerve-wracking, especially if you have been to one before that you did not 'click' with.
Danielle is of the belief that a therapist can be very experienced or highly educated, but if there is not a good fit between you and your therapist, it is difficult to open up or do good work together.
Do I need to be at all four evenings of the course?
Yes, this is how you will get the most out of it, plus information covered on one evening will be built upon on the subsequent evening.
Im a bit confused by the 'select the date' booking option, which looks like i have to select individual evenings to go to!?
Me too! I'm not able to change this function on the event page! If you select the initial evening, I will know you mean you are coming to the 4 weekly workshops, each Thursday night, between October 20th and November 10th.
There are 3 reduced price places available for people who have health care cards. please choose this option ($283.50 including booking fee) if you have a valid health care card or the alternative option if you do not. These are the prices BEFORE receiving a Medicare rebate.
Am I eligable for a Medicare Rebate? How Does this affect the price?
Group sessions, (or group 'focused psychological strategies') with a registered psychologist entitle some to a rebate of $21.65 per session, reducing the overall course price by $86.60.
In order to receive a Medicare rebate, you must be referred to a psychologist by a GP. The Doctor must first assess whether you are experiencing anxiety and that seeing a psychologist would be appropriate. The psychologist must have a Medicare number and be a registered psychologist for you to be able to receive a rebate ( both of which, Danielle has). All you need to do is mention Danielle Melia's name and the Medicare item number; 80120 (your GP will most likely already know this), to put on the referral your GP will create and mention this as a stress and anxiety group.
So as to make it as easy as possible, Danielle will show you how to claim your Medicare rebate using the MyGov app on your phone, to save you from having to go physically into Medicare.
If you have a referral from your GP, the price drops to either $196.90 or $238.90 (an absolute steal for what you will be given).
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
This course if for people aged 15 and over. If you have a health care card ticket, you need to bring this to the course for your ticket to be valid.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
Beach lane is approximately 100 metres from the entrence of Carrum train station, on the Frankston line. There is also ample parking at the beach car park, at the end of Old Post Office Lane.
What can/can't I bring to the event?
Bring along your curiosity and an open mind. It is ok to bring along your nervousness or ambivalent feelings too! You are welcome just as you are and doing anything new can be a bit uncomfortable in the beginning.
On a practice note, bringing along a water bottle some paper and a pen would be very useful. It's not all theory, but for the bits that are, you might want to write something down.
How many other people will i be in a group with?
The group will be capped at 10 people to maximise the experience for everyone while keeping it intimate and cosy.
Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?
Danielle is available on 0403944494 between 9am and 6pm on weekdays to discuss any other queries you have about the course and whether its right for you.
Is my registration/ticket transferable?
Yes, to another person, provided they are 15 or over and fill out the forms, or to another upcoming round of this same course.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
