Event description

Description

APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN to all Secondary School students who study, live, work or play in the North Sydney Local Government Area to participate in this year’s Story to Screen Youth Digital Storytelling Initiative: The Identity Project.

Exploring narrative, storytelling and the documentary through the lens of a still or video camera, students with the best proposals will have the opportunity to work closely with mentors to create, edit and share a powerful digital story on what it means to be an individual and part of a community. Students must propose a story that explores the theme of IDENTITY, from their own perspective or through the eyes of someone they know and are encouraged to choose a direction that is important to them as individuals. The project asks them to consider how we might be shaped by our experiences, possessions, education, neighbourhood, the media, technology, family, cultural background, appearance or our relationship to the landscape or environment?

Through a series of six FREE workshops with creative industry professionals in either filmmaking or digital photography, students will have the opportunity to learn new skills, develop technical and conceptual skills for self expression and creativity, meet like-minded young creatives, see their work screened and presented in a professional exhibition space, have fun and be in the running to win a GoPro!

If this sounds like something you'd like to be a part of and you want to find out more visit www.northsydney.nsw.gov.au/storytoscreen.

Online applications close on Sunday 13 August.
