Call Me By My Name

In celebration of IDAHOBIT 2022, come and watch two short films that account for the collective experience of Tasmanian students. The films will be screened for the first time to a public audience. They are approx. 8 min each in duration and speak to the commonly asked questions of educators, service providers and parents. There will also be a short film focused on one young person’s experience.

Following the screening there will be a panel comprised of students who participated in the film, moderated by Xris Reardon the lead LGBTIQA+ school’s inclusion officer for Working It Out.

The films are intended to be used as resources for teacher education in schools (in Tasmania). Money raised is to help pay for further editing of individual narratives and the creation of a school resource.

Important information for attendees:

• 6:30pm arrival for a 6:45pm start, entrance via the Centre for the Arts main stairs on Hunter Street.
• Bar open from 6:30pm for those who would like to purchase a drink on arrival. Catering will be provided for all guests after the screening.
• From 15th January 2022, anyone coming to our campuses, facilities and events is required to be fully vaccinated or have an exemption. Masks must be worn in indoor public settings, including all university venues, from 12:01am, Tuesday 21 December 2021.
• You will be greeted by our Front of House staff on arrival and asked to use the temperature scanning system to check in.
• The Dechaineux Theatre is located on the second floor with level access from the street through an alternate entrance. Should you require mobility assistance of any kind, please advise us via email or phone 03 6226 2332. One of our staff will be organised to assist you.
