Event description
Better understand how pivoting your business can lead to growth with Sam Hayek from the Cafe Consultant and John Quek Service NSW

About this event

Cafes in our neighbourhoods have reported strong trading levels during COVID, and in some cases, revenue has increased as more people are staying and working within their local neighbourhood.

In both cases, most cafes still experience difficulty with three key areas of their business:

1. Making enough profit to create a healthy work-life balance

2. Adjusting their business models in an accelerated digital World

3. No formal training – ‘don’t know what they don’t know’.

Join us in this interactive panel discussion featuring chef and cafe owner Sam Hayek and John Quek from Service NSW as we address the real issues that may hinder a cafe's success and how you can make changes that have positive impacts on your business. You'll learn what resources you can access through Service NSW to help your business.

About Sam Hayek

Sam Hayek has over 16 years’ experience in running successful cafes around Sydney.Sam’s passion for sharing his food started in his mother’s kitchen in the north of Lebanon and was fuelled by his desire to learn about flavours and bring joy to others. He lives by the mantra that only if the quality is high enough to serve to his wife and three boys, then it is suitable to serve to a customer.Sam is passionate and will often tell you it is key to a thriving business; however, he acknowledges that it is not the only element needed for a long-term success in the highly competitive hospitality industry. He has opened cafes around Sydney including Hangry in Rozelle and more recently owns and operates the Grounds Keeper. Sam has overcome many of the common issues owners face. He has experience from the design and build of a café right through to the menu and operations.

His unique perspective as both a chef and business owner allow him to provide a whole-of-business approach to set up a business to excel in all areas and he’ll be sharing his ‘secrets of success’ in this webinar series.
