Description

By failing to prepare, you're preparing to fail

Accidents happen. Disruptive events - including emergencies - can leave small business vulnerable, exposed and saddled with greater operational risk compared to larger enterprises. An emergency event is a serious, unexpected, and often dangerous situation requiring immediate action. The impact on staff, family, friends, customers, visitors and neighbours can be so catastrophic that many businesses never recover. Find out how proper planning will help reduce the occurrence and scale of events that could cause disruption and ensure your business is prepared for whatever comes around the corner.

Businesses with no formal continuity or emergency plan are encouraged to attend. This session will cover:

  • An overview of business continuity and review a range of risks that have impacted on businesses from case studies
  • Strategies for small businesses to minimise the consequences of disruptions and improve their chances of recovery
  • Actions staff can take during the critical period before the arrival of emergency services
  • The obligations of business owners
  • Tools available to assist with developing emergency plans

Equip your business with the capacity to:

  • Stabilise any disruptive events as soon as possible
  • Continue and/or quickly resume those operations that are the most critical to business objectives
  • Expedite a return to normal operations and full recovery

This event is part of the Small Business Festival Geelong.
