Butterfly Ecology Walk
Event Information
About this Event
This walk is conducted as part of Brisbane’s Big Butterfly Count.
Helen Schwencke will guide us through Banks Street Reserve and share her immense knowledge and enthusiasm.
The reserve consist of more than 30 hectares of bushland and large open space. Remnants of the Three Mile Scrub Rainforest can still be encountered along Enoggera Creek and a tributary, both in the park.
Walking with Helen means gaining an understanding of how habitats function and how they serve butterfly needs. Helen will again share her knowledge and expertise and allow us to read the landscape and interpret the habitat we encounter. We’ll learn about butterflies, their life cycle and their host plants, and which ecological role they play. It will be a morning full of wonder and learning. Free, but registration required.
This butterfly ecology walk is proudly supported by Brisbane City Council and Brisbane Catchments Network
