Butchers Bakers and Candle Makers in the archives - Bendigo
Event Information
Description
People from all nations have helped shape Bendigo’s identity. During the Australian Heritage Festival, Bendigo Library and friends will celebrate with talks, workshops and help sessions.
Did you know that Bendigo had candle makers in the 1860’s, the soap makers mostly lived and worked in Charleston Road and the butchers petitioned Council to change local laws relating to the “dressing” or preparation of meat on their own premises?
Join us for a look at these stories and more about some of the occupations related to daily living that can be researched through council and court records held by BRAC.
Hosted by Bendigo Regional Archives Centre Staff.
